Federal Minister for Women Development, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that Governor Punjab, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa will inaugurate mega projects during his visit to Sialkot on Saturday (today) and in this regard, all necessary arrangements have been finalised.
Addressing a hurriedly convened news conference on Friday afternoon here, she said that governor Punjab will also discuss different issues including non-availability of Sui gas and electricity load-shedding with the representatives of local business community.
She further said that the governor will also inaugurate newly established most modern National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) office at Kotli Loharana. This office would be totally run by women, adding that the aim of setting it up is to facilitate womenfolk. Nadra office would also deal male applicants once in a week. The minister also said that governor Punjab will also inaugurate electricity and Sui gas projects. The PPP leadership, she said, has focused attention on provision basic facilities of life to the downtrodden masses living in neglected and far-off areas of the country. The concept of these efforts is to eliminate difference between the rural and urban areas by providing basic facilities such as gas, electricity, education, communication means and health at their doorstep.
Meanwhile, talking to Business Recorder, she informed that about rupees three billion have so far been spent on electricity, Sui gas, and health and communication projects in NA-111. It is PPP leadership that brought such facilities in the remote and neglected areas of the past, she said.
Dr Firdous further stated that development on pending projects, pertaining to people's welfare, would soon be undertaken to facilitate the rural population of the area. She said that on the arrival of governor Punjab, a rousing welcome would be accorded.
