Bullish sentiments dominated on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) on Thursday and the equities registered gains across the board amid improved trading turnover due to fresh buying in selective scrips. The LSE-25 index was increased by 73.18 points and was closed at 3769.40 against 3696.22 points of Wednesday, while transaction volume was increased to 4.242 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 3.410 million shares.
The market opened on a healthy sign and kept on rising throughout the day. The investors stayed on buying course and picked selective shares including PSO, Pakistan Oil Fields, PPL, Attock Refinery, MCB Bank, National Bank, Engro Corporation, Fauji Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Nishat Mills, Lucky Cement, Arif Habib Corporation, Lotte Pakistan PTA, Sui Southern and Dewan Salman Fibres. Fresh interest in these scrips helped market stay in green zone. On the contrary, Bank Al-Habib, Habib Bank, and Bank of Punjab remained under pressure and closed with insignificant losses.
The advancing stocks were ahead of declining ones, as out of a total of 112 active issues, 46 companies registered gains, 7 stayed in negative column, while values of 59 companies remained unchanged at their overnight closing levels.
Among gainers, PSO was improved by Rs 5.85, Pakistan Oil Fields was appreciated by Rs 5.44, MCB Bank gained Rs 5.02, while Engro Corporation and Fauji Fertiliser were up by Rs 4.25 and Rs 3.08, respectively. SME Leasing lost Re 1.00, while Bank-Al-Habib and Habib Bank were down by 79-paisa and 77-paisa, respectively. Lotte Pakistan was the market leader whose 1.307 million shares changed hands followed by Bank of Punjab with 657,585 shares.
