ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping Thursday discussed Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill 2011 and Sea Carriage Shipping Document Bill 2011 in detail.
The representative of Ministry of Ports and Shipping briefly apprised the committee about the prose and cons of both the bills. He was off the view that proposed amendments are essential to meet the international requirements in order to enhance the Pakistani exports and would safeguard the interests of experts as well, said a news release issued here.
However, some of the stakeholders were of the view that the proposed amendments in the said bills would favour the buyers instead of exporters.The meeting was attended by Members National Assembly Syed Nasir Ali Shah, Khawaja Sohail Mansoor, Syed Asif Hussain, Nouman Islam Shaikh, Nazir Ahmed Bughio and Fouzia Wahab.
