ICE canola snaps five-day losing streak

 WINNIPEG: ICE Canada canola futures gained on Monday, snapping a five-day skid, on spillover support from stronger soybeans, traders said.

* Exporter short-covering seen supporting the market.

* Total volume was a thin 10,900 contracts. ICE Clear Canada said it had completed transfer of MF Global Canada positions.

* ICE Futures Canada was closed on Friday for Canada's Remembrance Day holiday, while Chicago soybeans moved higher.

* Most-active January canola futures rose $4.40 to $519.90 on volume of 7,881 contracts.

* March added $4.80 at $527.00 on volume 1,409.

* November contract expired on Monday.

* January-March spread traded 1,138 times, settling at a March premium of $7.10.

* Chicago January soybean gained 2-3/4 US cents to US$11.78-1/4 per bushel. December soyoil gained 0.24 cent to 51.22 US cents per lb.

* MATIF February rapeseed eased 0.2 percent.

* The Canadian dollar was trading at $1.0163, or 98.40 US cents, at 1:14 p.m. CST (1914 GMT), up from Thursday's Bank of Canada close at $1.0177 to the US dollar, or 98.26 US cents.

* US crude oil eased 0.9 percent at US$98.14 per barrel.

* ADM to build canola biodiesel plant in Alberta.

* Canada weekly canola crushings fall 11.3 percent.

* Canada farmland value rises most 3-1/2 years.
