Government enjoys public mandate: Memon

Published Updated

imagaKARACHI: The coalition government in the country, led by Pakistan People Party, enjoys massive public mandate and would complete its term as laid down in the constitution, said Sindh Minister for Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon, on Monday.

Talking to PPP workers, he said the current democratic setup will offer itself to the public accountability through the process of polls on completion of its tenure.

"Population of the country comprising millions of people will not accept any extra constitutional measure nor will they condone any undemocratic step," said the provincial Information Minister.

He said the leaders belonging to opposition parties talking to about mid term elections or change of government, are making futile attempts to try to mislead people.

Memon said the present government has initiated several mega - projects for public well being and this on completion would solve long pending and generally ignored problems of the country.

"Many of the difficulties we are faced with are not the doing of the present set up but have been inherited from previous regimes," he said.

The country under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari has managed to settle different national and international issues ultimately raising its status among the world community, he said.

The Sindh Information Minister alleged that the opposition parties had resorted to the politics of confrontation with major focus on meetings and sit-in that could rarely solve the genuine problems of the masses.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said government was extremely serious in addressing the energy crisis and "Thar Coal Project," is a major step to solve the problem.

He said the government is also fully conscious of its responsibilities towards rehabilitation of the flood victims.

Equal attention is also being paid to ensure that nation was well prepared to brave climatic changes and the intensity of associated devastations are minimized, said the minister.

The Information Minister said the current situation demands that the entire nation must face the internal and external challenges with absolute unity and utmost commitment.

On the occasion the PPP workers shared their problems with the Minister and assured him that they were united under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and no force could divide them.
