FRANKFURT: German stocks opened modestly higher on Monday after Italy's new leader vowed to pull the debt-laden country back from the brink of fiscal disaster that has threatened to tear apart the eurozone.
The DAX 30 index opened at 6,097.27 points, an increase of 40.24 points or 0.66 percent from the close on Friday.
