Cocoa arrivals at ports in Ivory Coast from October 1, 2006 to August 26, 2007, reached 1,183,989 tonnes, compared with 1,325,463 tonnes received in the same period last year, exporters said on Friday. The figures showed 8,886 tonnes arrived at ports from August 20 to August 26, up from 2,369 tonnes in the same period of the 2005/06 season.
Exporters said some of the cocoa was from the next main crop harvest which does not start officially until October. Farmers and exporters are expecting a strong, early harvest thanks to months of regular rainfall.
