ISTANBUL: The Turkish lira weakened to 1.7907 on Tuesday after renewed doubts on euro zone's debt crisis put riskier assets under pressure.
The lira had strengthened to its highest level in 1-1/2 months at 1.7425 last Thursday after the Turkish central bank unveiled a strategy to bolster the currency, that partly hinged on tightening liquidity.
Against a euro-dollar basket the lira stood at 2.1271 on Monday versus a previous close of 2.1003.
