Pakistan celebrate Asad's magical knock

Published December 19, 2016 Updated December 19, 2016 07:49am

imageThe great game of cricket is quite complex as one could take pride even in defeats, this was the case during the first Test match between Pakistan and Australia, after the hosts were able to clinch a 39 run victory, but not after a gutsy show by visitors.

Pakistan middle order batsman Asad Shafiq played an inning of his lifetime, maintaining his trademark composure and grittiness, he hit 137 runs against one of the worlds most lethal pace attacks of Starc and Hazlewood.

His 137 runs knock at the Gabba is his joint-highest score in the 52 Tests, matching his 137 against New Zealand in Sharjah in 2014 which also came under similar conditions.

"That was one of the classiest innings I've ever seen.... in the context of the game, the way he handled the pressure, playing with the tail. He made a match out of nothing," Palk9stan test skipper Misbah said, reported The Age.

"As a skipper, I'm happy to see the team playing like that, chasing 490 in the last innings after being out for 142 in the first innings. That was wonderful and that sets the tone for the series. At the moment, I could not explain how happy I am for the guys, especially for Asad."

Pakistan cricket team celebrated one of the best innings by any Pakistani batsman in recent memory, with much zest and fervor, and everything aside the inning has ignited a much needed hope against one of the worlds best cricketing sides.

Pakistan is schedule to play its next Test match on 26th December, popularly called the Boxing Day at the coveted Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
