imageKARACHI: Funeral prayers of singer-turned preacher Junaid Jamshed, who was killed in the PK-661 air crash last week, were offered today (Thursday) at AKD Ground in the city's DHA Phase 8 area.

Maulana Tariq Jameel addressed the participants of the funeral before leading the prayers. The deceased will be laid to rest at Dar ul Aloom, Korangi according to his wish, according to local TV channels' report.

His body was brought to Karachi on Wednesday evening from Islamabad through C-130 plane after funeral prayer was offered at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Nur Khan Base, Rawalpindi. It was also attended by Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, senior civil and military officials, and people from all walks of life. The family members of late Junaid Jamshed were also present on the occasion.

Junaid Jamsheds brother Humayun Jamshed thanked people of Pakistan and the countrys armed forces for honouring the late singer-turned-preacher by shrouding his body in countrys flag. He was of the view that whole Pakistan stood with him and his family in their hour of grief.

Jamshed was among the passengers travelling from Chitral to Islamabad in a PIA ATR plane when the ill-fated flight PK-661 crashed near Abbottabad, killing all 48 people on board on December 7. His body was identified by forensic experts through dental history and face x-ray on Monday.
