KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port where five ships Maersk Memphis, UASC Al-Khor, Liberty-N, Johan Oldendorff and Rebecca Schulte carrying Containers, LPG, Coal, and Palm oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday, 13th December-2016.
Meanwhile four more ships Maersk Savannah, Shan Dongzihe, Plumeria, Coral and Mumian Song with containers, Palm oil, LPG and General cargo also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was recorded at the Port at 73% on Tuesday where a total of eleven ships namely Maersk Memphis, UASC Al-Khor, MSC Mykonos, Serene Susannah, Johann Oldendorff, Bella Masuka, Sienna Princess, Castillo De Santistebon, Liberty-N, Rebecca Schulte and Lion oil and Furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A record cargo handling was achieved at the Port on Tuesday where a cargo volume of 188,970 tonnes, comprising 147,434 tonnes import cargo and 41,536 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,821 Containers TEUs) 3,013 imports TUEs & 1,790 TUEs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.
LNG carrier Castillo De Santistebon sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while containers ship Maersk Memphis is expected to sail on same day afternoon.
C.V Maersk Savannah carrying Containers is expected to take berths at QICT on Wednesday, 14th December, while container vessel `Mataquito' is due to arrive at Port Qasim on Thursday, 15th December -2016.
