SINGAPORE: The Asian gasoil margin edged higher on Friday in anticipation of stronger demand from Europe during winter, traders said.
Gasoil margins are expected to remain supported in the coming months, Sri Paravaikkarasu, head of East of Suez Oil at energy analyst FGE, said.
"I don't expect refineries to switch yield (to maximize on gasoline) at this point knowing that this is not the gasoline season and that refineries will be coming back full swing after the maintenance," she said.
Diesel supplies remain plentiful at the moment partly because China is continuing to ship record volumes.
China exported record volumes of diesel and gasoline in September, data showed on Friday, as oil majors in the world's top energy market sell excess product abroad against a backdrop of slackening local demand and surging output.
Diesel exports jumped 44 percent to 1.6 million tonnes in September, overtaking July's previous all-time high of 1.53 million tonnes, according to Chinese customs figures.
India's aviation ministry said on Friday the first flights under a scheme to boost air travel between smaller cities should take off in January, after it finalised rules to make flying more affordable.
