Indian occupation troops shot dead six suspected freedom fighters after they crossed into Indian occupied Kashmir, a defence spokesman said on Saturday. The gun battle took place near the Line of Control that divides the state in the Rajouri district, 180 kilometres, from Indian occupied Kashmir's capital Jammu, when "a group of six freedom fighters sneaked into Indian territory" on Friday, defence spokesman Colonel D.K. Badola said.
Indian occupation troops intercepted the group based on a tip-off, Badola said. "On receipt of information our soldiers chased them and challenged them to surrender," he said.
"The freedom fighters opened fire on our troops and in the retaliatory fire all the six infiltrators were killed on the spot." A large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the dead freedom fighters, he added.
