Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has extended its 'Totally Free' telephone connection scheme till June 1, Executive Vice President (Operations) South, Rehmatullah, announced here on Thursday. Under the scheme, the applicants are provided both connection and telephone set free of cost. It may be mentioned here that PTCL had introduced a similar scheme few months back. However, at that time the connection charges used to be recovered by adding it into the customer's telephone bill. This time, no charges, either for connection or telephone set would be recovered, Rehmatuliah said.
Under the scheme, he said, the company had provided 14900 telephone connections in Sindh and Balochistan so far. Connections would be provided in areas where network facility was available, he added.
To get a connection, the customer would have to dial 111-900-900 and provide the address where the telephone connection was required. If provision of a connection be found technically feasible, company's staff would visit the customer and get the form for new connection filled and thereafter, connection along with telephone set would be provided, he told. It may be mentioned here that the company had also set up camps in areas, where provision of a connection was found feasible on technical basis so as to facilitate the people at the most.
