Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Shahid Karimullah, arrived in Bangladesh on Thursday on completion of the first leg of his successful visit to China.
This was announced in a press release of ISPR (Navy) here on Friday.
It said the visit of the Chief of the Naval Staff was in response to invitations from his counterparts and was aimed at enhancing the existing military co-operation between the navies of these friendly countries.
On the first leg of his visit, the Chief of the Naval Staff visited Beijing, China.
He called on Commander PLA (Navy) Vice-Admiral Zhang Ding Fa, at PLA Naval headquarters where he attended briefings on PLA Navy followed by discussions in which the matters relating to purchase of new warships from China and co-operation in different fields including training were discussed.
He also visited HQs CSTC and attended a briefing besides calling on the Presidents of CETC and CATIC where matters of mutual interest were discussed.
During his stay, Admiral Shahid Karimullah also called on minister Costind, the Defence Minister of China and DG Armament and Equipment General Li Jinai.
Later, he visited Qingdao and Shanghai where he called on commanders of North and East and East Sea Fleet respectively and visited some ships and submarines of the fleet.
Besides, the Naval Chief also visited a number of operational and training Naval units including the Chinese Submarine Academy.
The visit is a part of high level exchanges between the two friendly countries, aimed at establishing comprehensive partnership in all fields of bilateral interest, the ISPR (Navy) press release added.
