Former senior vice-president Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Muhammad Sadiq Goraya has appealed to the government that statuary regulatory order (SRO) 410 should not be rescinded for the larger interest of the industrial sector of the country.
In a press statement issued on Monday he said that impact of withdrawal of SRO 410 would create negative effects on the overall exports.
Sadiq Goraya said small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) especially badges making industry, which depends upon the SRO for importing raw material, will face serious threats.
Expressing his fear he said that exporting industries of Sialkot would face serious crisis if the validity of SRO 410 not extended beyond June 30, 2004.
Thousands of industrial workers and skilled workers including large number of womenfolk engaged with badges industry would become jobless while industry will collapsed and Pakistan will lose huge foreign exchange he said.
Muhammad Sadiq Goraya urged upon the government that SRO 410 should be continued and its prolongation should be announced in forthcoming budget for greater interests of SMEs, particularly for the protection of badges industry.
