The nation has celebrated Pakistan Day on Tuesday with a renewed pledge to make the country a strong, progressive and prosperous Islamic state.
The day began with prayers at mosques and other places of worship for the solidarity, integrity and prosperity of the country.
A thirty-one gun salute at the federal capital and twenty-one gun salute at provincial capitals heralded the day.
In Karachi, Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Ali Muhammad Mahar along with members of his cabinet visited the Mazar of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and laid floral wreath on the Mazar and offered Fateha.
Senator Nisar A. Memon, City Nazim Naimatullah Khan and representatives of three services also visited the Mazar, laid floral wreath and offered Fateha.
In Lahore, an impressive guard mounting ceremony was held at the Mazar of great poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Air Force took over guard duties from Sutlaj Rangers.
Commander PAF base, Lahore, Air Commodore Sohail Asghar, who was the chief guest on the occasion, laid floral wreath on the Mazar and offered Fateha.
A seminar was held at Awan-e-Karkoonan Tehreek-e-Pakistan organised by Nazria-e-Pakistan Foundation.
It was presided over by former Justice Dr Javed Iqbal and addressed by prominent workers of the Pakistan Movement.
A large number of people also visited the Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore where the historic Lahore resolution was passed on March 23, 1940, which paved the way for the creation of Pakistan.
