imageISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is set to achieve revenue target of 3100 billion rupees this year.

This was stated by Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar while speaking at pre-budget seminar here on Saturday. He said this constitutes 56% increase in revenue collection during the last three years as collection stood at 1946 billion rupees in 2013.

He said a number of measures were taken during these years to expand tax net. He said one-third NROs were withdrawn during first year of the present Government, one-third during current year and the remaining would be withdrawn during next budget.

The Finance Minister said fiscal deficit, which stood at 8.8% of the GDP in 2013, has been brought down to 4.3% this year. He said from the very beginning of the tenure of the present Government discretionary funds of the Prime Minister were abolished.

The Minister said government is pursuing policy of three Es, including economy, energy and extremism, to build strong foundations for national progress and development.

He invited all the political parties to give their inputs for preparing a concrete roadmap for strengthening economy.

He said economy should not be politicized, and stressed for reaching a charter of economy in the line of charter of democracy. He said the government believes in consultations, and all the positive suggestions will be included in the budgetary proposals.
