ISLAMABAD: The power deficit in the country on Tuesday slightly reduced to 5,583 MW from 5,944 MW as the total power generation was recorded as 11,591 MW against the demand of 17,174 MW during the last 24 hours.
According to the brief on daily power generation and load-management,the hydel generation stood at 4,953 MW, WAPDA thermal 1,311 MW, IPPs 5,220 MW and Renal 107 MW.
As many as 740 MW was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report added.
Both the hydel and IPPs generation has significantly reduced due to less water discharge from Tarbela and Mangla dams and short of fuel supply to the power plants.
Some of small IPPs have been shut down due to shortage of fuel supply.
The Tarbela and Mangla dams had already attained their maximum conservation level of 1550 feet and 1210 feet respectively.
