imageIndian director Kabir Khan who recently came to Pakistan to attend a marketing conference was heckled at the Karachi airport on Tuesday by protesters who waved shoes at him and shouted anti-India slogans as he was about to board a plane for Lahore.

The protesters angry over what they called Khan’s ‘anti-Pakistan films’ questioned why he did not make similar movies about India’s premier spy agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Soon after the incident, the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ director said on Twitter,

He was welcomed on Karachi airport with ‘shame, shame’ slogans, implying that the protesters already knew his departure timings.

Kabir Khan’s movie ‘Phantom’ had caused a controversy in Pakistan as it depicted the country in a bad light. The Saif Ali Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer was banned in the country.

Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi also took to social networking site to show respect to the Indian director who came as a guest to Pakistan.

Across the border, Kabir Khan’s wife Mini Mathur talking about the incident said, “No he wasn’t attacked. There were these 12 protesters shooting their own protest on iphones outside the airport which was creating a hassle. He doesn’t support any kind of extremism either in this side or that side. He was unperturbed and he handled it very calmly. He was there on their invitation to speak on a marketing and innovation conference. There were people all around the world to talk about it. He was gone for one day and these people chose to express their protest for whatever reason, anyway Kabir is back and he’s safe and all is fine. Also he got a lot of love from them there and so 12 people protesting shouldn’t create a big dent,” Bollywood Life reported.
