imageISLAMABAD: Brazil's Ambassador to Pakistan Claudio Raja Gabaglia Lins on Monday said Brazil and Pakistan should make efforts to increase the existing trade volume of 370 million dollars.

Speaking at the "Meet the Press" held at National Press Club, he said there are vast opportunities of trade, cultural exchange and mutual cooperation among both the countries.

Brazil-Pakistan Business Council was established to enhance the trade volume between the two countries, he added.

Pakistan is an important country geographically and has a strong position among international world. Pakistan Gwadar Port and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are unique projects in terms of social, economic and cultural cooperation. These would benefit the countries of this region as well as others. These projects would bring the countries closer culturally and economically, the ambassador said.

Claudio Raja Gabaglia Lins said Brazil believes in peace and international cooperation and it would explore more ways of possible cooperation with Pakistan in diversified fields.

Regarding situation in Afghanistan, he said reconciliation to maintain peace in Afghanistan is important for economic prosperity in the region.

Brazil is playing an important role in the world politics which would bring both the countries closer to each other, he added.

About the Kashmir issue, he said it must be resolved with mutual consensus of Pakistan and India.

President NPC, Shakeel Anjum, Secretary NPC, Imran Yaqoob, Finance Secretary, Ishaque Chaudhry and other members attended the event.
