imageFAISALABAD: State Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali said on Tuesday that 70 to 80 percent ground work of 1230 megawatt LNG-based Haveli Bahadur Shah power plant had been completed and it would start generating 800 megawatt electricity from April 2017.

Visiting the power plant, he said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had laid foundation stone of the plant on October 16, 2015. Physical work at this project was in full swing and after its completion in 2017, it would help to add 1230 megawatt electricity to national grid system, he added.

He said the Prime Minister was committed to end load shedding from the country and for this purpose, a number of energy projects had been launched in the country, whereas efforts had also been expedited to complete the projects on war-footings.

There will be maximum 6 hours load shedding in urban areas and 8 hours in rural areas during the summer, whereas there would be no load shedding during the holy month of Ramzan especially Sehar and Iftar timings.

He said the PML-N believed in positive politics but some elements were hatching conspiracies and spreading rumors against the present government for their nefarious designs.

"We will go in the public for vote in general election 2018 on the basis of our excellent performance", he said and hoped that the PML-N would come into power once again with a heavy mandate.

Abid Sher Ali said the country was experiencing worst darkness when the PML-N came into power. "We set our priorities to overcome all crises especially energy crisis".

Earlier, the state minister visited various parts of Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Project and held a meeting with project officers to review the pace of work.
