Apple Inc , is not pleased with Samsung’s Supreme Court plea.
The iPhone maker attempted to deter the US Supreme Court from hearing Samsung's appeal, to review the $548 million patent infringement dispute between the two electronics giant. Apple has told the US apex court that the settlement should not be reviewed.
According to CNET, Apple attorneys argued that the case is "legally unexceptional" and requested the court not to "prolong" the suit against Samsung.
"Samsung had its day in court -- many days, in fact -- and the properly instructed jury was well justified in finding that Samsung copied Apple's designs and should pay the damages that the statute expressly authorizes," Apple's filing said.
According to Apple Insider, the previous rulings in the iPhone maker's favor "broke no new legal ground, said Apple.
"Samsung's effort to make this case seem certworthy (worthy of certiorari) depends on a made-up narrative in which Samsung, not Apple, is the innovator, despite the overwhelming evidence that Samsung copied the iPhone's innovative design," Apple's attorneys wrote in the filing.
In December last year, Samsung filed a request with the Supreme Court, asking the apex court to review its decision. The trial, which ended in 2012, involved designs of some of the most iconic phones on the planet and resulted in Apple’s victory, as Samsung was ordered to pay the Cupertino based tech $548 million.
