PM approves setting up power producing plants in Sialkot: Dr. Firdous
SIALKOT: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has approved a mega project of establishing the mini power producing plants in Sialkot district aimed at giving maximum relief to the energy crisis-beaten Sialkot businessmen.
The federal government would soon start a project of power producing from garbage for overcoming the menace of aggregating energy crisis in the district.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan disclosed this while talking to different trade delegations, who called on her on Monday. President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhary and Chairman Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) Syed Mukhtar Hussain were also present on this occasion.
Federal Minister added that it would be a government-private sector power producing project that would definitely give maximum relief to Sialkot’s export industries. She revealed that these proposed mini power plants would recycle the garbage and produce energy through the garbage for Sialkot industries.
She also announced to establish a campus of IT University at Bajwat-Sialkot (falling in her electoral constituency (NA-111, Sialkot-II) for providing the advanced education of information technology to the local girl students at local level.
She urged the Sialkot business community to come forward and give the sharing hand to the government, besides donating generously for the relief and help the flood-stricken people in Sindh.
