imageKARACHI: A meeting was held at Commissioner Office here Wednesday to review arrangements for fast approaching Eid Milad -un-Nabi in the metropolis.

Religious leaders representing different schools of thought on the occasion assured the administration of all out support in maintaining harmony among the ranks of people.

The meeting chaired by Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui was also attended by Additional Inspector General of Police, Mushtaq Mehar, Additional Commissioner - Karachi (one), Muhammad Aslam Khoso, deputy commissioners from all six districts, municipal officers, representatives of KWSB, K-Electric and different cantonment boards.

It was decided that Karachi Traffic Police will develop a contingency plan so as to ensure smooth flow of traffic amidst series of processions planned to be taken out by different organisations during the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal.

Representatives of different religious bodies further assured the meeting that proper and timely permission would be sought from the administration for all "Mahafils," the large sized gatherings along with varied processions to be taken out in the month of Rabi-ul-Awal.

Karachi Commissioner urged the K-Electric officials not to resort to load-shedding on the eve of Eid Milad un Nabi.

He also directed the representatives of KWSB and other civic agencies to provide him with a detailed report about measures adopted for cleanliness across the metropolis.

Deputy Commissioners from different districts were asked to ensure that all street lights in their respective jurisdictions are made functional while no case of sewage flow or scanty water supply is reported from any part.

Shoaib said the citizens must be facilitated to celebrate the festival in a befitting manner but without any compromise on law and order situation.
