PTEA calls for early approval of textile policy

Published Updated

imageFAISALABAD: Pakistan Textile Exporters Association called for early approval of new textile policy as it would be beneficial for the major export-oriented sector.

These views were expressed by Chairman Sohail Pasha and Vice Chairman Rizwan Riaz of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association here on Monday.

They said the government announced several schemes including settlement of outstanding refund claims, rationalization of refund regime, establishment of Exim bank, duty free import of textile machinery and reduction of mark up rate for export refinance in the budget 2014-15 but the sector was not getting benefits yet.

Textile sector contributed about 55 percent to the country's total exports, besides providing direct and indirect millions of jobs which required a proper policy, they added.

They urged the government to redress the problems of the industry by taking comprehensive and innovative solutions in the upcoming textile policy.
