imageSIALKOT: Labour Welfare Department (LWD) Director General Muhammad Saleem Hussain on Friday said the Punjab government was making all-out efforts to eliminate child labour from the province.

Addressing a seminar to commemorate the International Children Day 2014, organized by the Punjab government and UNICEF, he said the department has initiated many projects including integrated projects with the cost of Rs 5.5 billion for elimination of child labour.

He said that a project has already been initiated in Jhan, Layyah, Jehlam and Chakwal in this regard.

Labour Welfare Punjab Director Syed Hasnat briefed the participants on various steps being taken by the government for the implementation of the UNCRC. Child Protection UNICEF Punjab Chief Shagufta Bhatti said that it was need of the hour to make an autonomous body for the protection of children rights in the Punjab.
