imageISLAMABAD: The production of various automobiles witnessed considerable increase during the first month of current fiscal year (July 2014) compared to the production of the same month of last year.

According to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the production of trucks witnessed increase of 30.12 percent in July 2014 compared to the output of July 2013. As many as 216 trucks were manufactured in July 2014 compared to the production of 166 trucks in July 2013.

The production of buses also increased from 34 units in July 2013 to 45 units in July 2014, showing an increase of 32.35 percent.

Similarly, the production of tractors increased from 1,928 units in July 2013 to 2,062 units in July 2014, showing an increase of 6.95 percent, the PBS data revealed.

The production of motorcycles also increased by 2.42 percent by going up from 140,614 units produced in July 2013 to 144,011 whereas the production of light commercial vehicles increased by 1.29 percent, from 1,241 units to 1,257 units.

However, the production of jeeps and cars decreased from 9,436 units in July 2013 to 7,126 units in July 2014, showing a decrease of 24.48 percent, according to the data.

It is pertinent to mention here that the overall Large scale manufacturing (LSM) sector registered a growth of 1.14 per cent in July 2014 over the corresponding period of previous year.

The Quantum Index Number (QIM) of LSM industries stood at 112.25 points during first month (July) of the on-going fiscal year 2014-2015 as compared to 110.98 points of the preceding year, registering an increase of 1.14 per cent.

However, the LSM sector recorded negative growth of 2.55 per cent in July 2014 when compared with the data of its preceding month of June, revealed the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
