OSLO: Deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to European Union from Norway's plant in the Arctic will be reduced in May and June due to a planned maintenance, its operator Statoil said in a market message.
The maintenance planned at Europe's only LNG plant near Hammerfest which produces gas from Snoehvit gas field in the Barents Sea is expected to reduce output by 6 million cubic metres (mcm) per day from May 2 until June 8.
"Volume reflects current estimate that up to two EU-destined Statoil-marketed cargoes could be impacted," Statoil said.
It was not clear whether the maintenance is going to impact cargoes marketed by Statoil partners. Statoil was not immediately available to comment further. Statoil holds 36.79 percent at the Snoehvit gas field while state holding firm Petoro has 30 percent. Statoil is responsible for marketing its own and state's gas.
The other partners in the field are French Total with 18.4 percent, GDF Suez with 12 percent and Germany's RWE Dea with 2.81 percent. Snoehvit gas field produced 3.8 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas in 2013 compared with its peak production of 5 bcm in 2010.
