KARACHI: The Karachi Circular Railway (KCR)) route has been extended upto Karachi Airport while the further extension would be made in phase- III of KCR, to Pakistan Steel Area.
It was decided at 8th meeting of the KCR/KUTC (Karachi Urban Transport Company) Board of Directors' meeting here on Monday which was chaired by the Chief Secretary Sindh, Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry, who is also the Chairman of the KUTC Board of Directors.
An official said that the meeting decided to revise the compensation plan for the project affectees of KCR in consultation with JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) the loaning agency for the project, and other stakeholders.
Meeting recommended constituting two committees i.e. Finance and Operation committee and Audit and HR committee.
Each committee would comprise three members from Pakistan Railway, Government of Sindh and KUTC one member/representative from Pakistan Railways, Government of Sindh and KUTC).
It was also decided that the office of KUT Secretariat would be arranged in the office of Secretary Transport, Government of Sindh, and the KUTC administration, will strength liaisoning with the Secretary Transport Sindh, to make the project more viable.
The KCR issues linked to the Board of Revenue Sindh, KMC, KW&SB and other nation-building departments were also discussed, and it was decided that in accordance with the rules and regulation.
The chair advised to expedite the project adequately and transparently.
