ISTANBUL: The Turkish lira tumbled to a record low of 2.07 against the dollar on Wednesday, hit by concern about a possible US-led military strike on Syria and after the central bank governor said he did not intend interest rate hikes to defend the lira.
At 0512 GMT, the lira stood at 2.0624 against the US currency, off the low of 2.07 and compared with a level of 2.037 late on Tuesday.
