QUETTA: The government of Balochistan has withdrawn the petition seeking transfer of the Akbar Bugti murder case, involving General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf as accused, to Islamabad.
A two-judge bench of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) was hearing the Akbar Bugti murder case in which former military ruler Pervez Musharraf has been booked as an accused.
During Saturday proceedings, assistant advocate general told the court that the government will provide complete security to Pervez Musharraf. On this, Musharraf’s lawyer told that blasts have occurred in the same area few days ago due to which security concerns exist for his client.
Responding to Musharraf’s counsel, Chief Justice BHC Justice Qazi Faez Isa questioned him that what happened after the blasts occurred at Marriott Hotel. Did the government seize to function after that and that who was governing at that time.
The court, then disposed of the plea after the provincial government retracted the request to transfer the case to the capital city.
It may be mentioned that Baloch leader Akbar Bugti was killed in a military operation in Balochistan in 2006 when Musharraf was the president of the country and army chief at the same time.
