KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where two ships carrying containers and chemical were allotted berths at Qasim International Containers Termina l (QICT) and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Sunday, May 01, the statement of PQA stated on Monday. Meanwhile, one more ship scheduled to off load furnace oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. Two edible oil ships MV. Golden Top and Argent Hibiscus are also expected to arrive at outer anchorage with in a day or two.
Berth occupancy at the Port was 70% on Sunday where a total of eight ships namely, Maersk Utah, MN Rana, Tycoon-II, Majestic, Pearl of Jubel Ali Golden Ambrosia, Analapsi Lady and Yufu are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, canola seed, chemicals, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at Port where a cargo volume of 127061 tonnes, comprising 90633 tonnes imports and 36428 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2560 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 48 hours.
MV. Maersk Utah and Golden Ambrosia sailed out to sea in early morning today.
MV. Al Azizoo will take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal on Monday, May 02.
