KARACHI: Brisk shipping was observed at the Port where five ships scheduled to load/ offload containers, rice, steel product and phosphoric acid were allowed berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively at Port Qasim during last 24 hours, port sources said here Tuesday.
Three more ships carrying VCM, MEG, poraxiline and containers also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same period.
Berth occupancy remained at the Port at 57% on Monday where eight ships namely C.V Nysted Maersk, C.V Emirates Mombasa, M.V Kiana Poineer, M.V Diamond Sea, M.V Sofia, M.V Encore, MT Belsize Park and M.T Karachi are currently occupying berths to load / offload containers. rice, cement, steel product, phosphoric acid and furnace oil.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 112,071 tonnes, comprising 98,238 tonnes imports and 13,833 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2,002 containers (1,428 imports and 574 exports TEUs) were handled at port.
Two ships C.V Emirates Mombasa and M.T Karachi sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships C.V Nysted Maersk and M.V Diamond Sea are expected to sail the same day.
Three ships C.V Maersk Kingston, C.V Al-Abdali and M.V Veruda scheduled to load/offload containers and cement are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Multipurpose Terminal respectively on Tuesday, while three more ships C.V CMA CGM Chopin, M.V Astra Centaurs and M.T Bunga Azalia are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday.
