MEPCO launches energy conservation drive
MULTAN: Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO), in collaboration with the USAID power distribution programme, launched an outreach awareness campaign on energy conservation and reduce power theft for farmers in rural areas across south Punjab.
An energy conservation seminar was held at village Chah Hamrajwala, Chak Basi, tehsil Mailsi district Vehari, which was attended by a large number of farmers.
Additional Director Project Management Unit MEPCO, Khawaja Aurangzaib, addressing the seminar, said the electricity shortfall was a worldwide issue and the country was facing a 5,000mw shortfall.
Asghar Baloch, Consumer Outreach Officer USAID Power Distribution Programme, urged the farmers to avoid the extra use of lights and added that they could contact MEPCO's toll free number 0800-84330 in case of any information.
