KARACHI: Muhammad Shahid Nazir has signed a record deal with Warner Music for his One Pound Fish song after hitting 3.6 million hits on Youtube.

The Pakistani moved to England over a year ago and was noticed by the music company in a Youtube video singing at the East London market. Executives at Warner music feel that Shahid can be the next Psy of Gangnam Style fame. Shahid also auditioned for X Factor though he was rejected. However, now he is pitted against the reality show winner in an attempt to create a Christmas number one and making his song viral.

Shahid’s fans from all around the world claim his song is catchy. Admirers include famous personalities like footballer Rio Ferdinand and British actor and musician Alesha Dixon. Moreover, Dixon and US boy band Mindless Behavior have made their own versions of the song.

Shahid created the song as he did not want to shout to sell his fish which is something he was told to do by his employer. Shahid sings “Come on ladies, come on ladies, have-a, have-a look, one pound fish. Very very good, very very cheap, one pound fish.”
