KARACHI: Brisk shipping was recorded at the Port Qasim where six ships C.V Abu Dhabi, C.V Maersk Kingston, C.V Nedlloyd Hudson, M.V Phutia-19, M.V Victoria Star and M.T Clipper Hermud scheduled to load/offload containers, rice, general cargo and chemicals were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
Berth occupancy was observed at the Port at eighty six percent on Tuesday where thirteen ships namely C.V Abu Dhabi, C.V Maersk Kingston, C.V Nedlloyd Hudson, M.V Phutia-19, M.V Beagle-III, M.V On Vatan. M.V Victoria Star, M.T Dai Doung Sunrise, M.V Maha Deepa, M.T Chemroad Sea, M.T Clipper Hermud, M.V Double Prosperity and KPS Alican Bey are currently at PQA berths to load/offload containers, rice, wheat, cement general cargo, soya been meal, steel scap, palm oil, chemicals and coal during last 24 hours.
Cargo handling registered an upward trend at the Port where a cargo volume of 118,850 tonnes, comprises 79,762 tonnes imports and 39,088 tonnes exports inclusive containerized cargo carried in 3.750 containers ( 2,150 imports and 1.600 exports TEUs) were handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
Two ships M.T Dai Doung Sunrise Maersk and M.V Victoria Star sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while four more ships C.V Abu Dhabi, C.V Maersk Kingston. C.V Nedlloyd Hudson and M.T Chemroad Sea are expected to sail on same day.
No ship at outer anchorage.
C.V CMA CGM Strauss carrying containers is expected to take berth at container terminal on Wednesday.
M.V Leopard-B is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day, while three more ships C.V New Delhi Express, C.V Hansa Liberty and M.V Cos Glory are due to arrive on Thursday, 8 November.
