LHC CJ orders immediate release of 32 inmates from jail

Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Qasim Ali Khan has issued immediate release orders for 32 prisoners confined at Kot Lakhpat jail in petty crimes.

Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Qasim Ali Khan has issued immediate release orders for 32 prisoners confined at Kot Lakhpat jail in petty crimes.
The CJ issued these orders during his visit to the jail on Tuesday to inspect the facilities being offered to inmates besides distribution of Eid gifts among them. LHC Registrar Khan Bahadur Khan, District & Sessions Judge Lahore Qaiser Nazir Butt, Punjab IG Prisons Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig and DIG Prisons Lahore Region Mubashar Ahmed Khan accompanied the CJ.
Justice Qasim inspected the female ward of prisoners and distributed Eid gifts among women and children. He also inspected food in the kitchen prepared for the prisoners. Later, the CJ went to the jail hospital and distributed gifts among psychological patients.
In his address, the chief justice informed the officials about the steps taken by the LHC for early release of the prisoners. Expressing his satisfaction over the facilities being provided to the prisoners by the Punjab Prisons Department, Justice Qasim ordered to send the lists along with medical records of male and female prisoners affected by fatal diseases, so progress could be made in these cases as early as possible.
Earlier in the day, DIG Prisons Mubashar Ahmed Khan briefed the CJ about the projects initiated by the Punjab Prisons Department for the welfare of prisoners.
