Tally of Covid-19 cases surges to 1,235 in Capital

The federal capital on Thursday witnessed another largest increase in the number of Covide-19 cases after 101 people were tested positive and the tally of deadly virus surged to 1,235 in the city.

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) official said that following ease in lockdown the pandemic was spreading rapidly therefore every one needed to wear masks and stay at a distance of six feet from one another.

According to official data, out of 1,235 Covid-19 cases, 151 patients have recovered and 10 died.

Sector I-10, Tarlai, Lohi Bher, Bhara Kahu and Sector G-6 are hotspots of the Covid-19.

According to official data, 85 cases were reported from Sector I-10, 72 cases from Tarlai, 74 from Lohi Bher, 64 from Bhara Kahu, 61 from Sector G-6, 52 from Sector G-7, 50 from Sohan, and 52 from Sector I-8.

Similarly, 52 cases were reported from Sector G-7, 44 from G-8, 43 from Sector G-13, 39 from G-9, 38 from G-11, 34 from G-10, 37 from I-9, 26 from Shehzad Town, 25 from F-7, 26 from E-11, 21 from Rawat, 21 from F-10, 18 from Jangi Syedan, 16 from Khana Pul, six from Ali Pur, 21 from Rawal Town, 16 from F-6, 14 from F-11, 15 from H-13, 18 from Shah Allah Ditta, 11 from F-8, and 11 from Kirpa.

As many as nine cases were reported from unspecified address, 10 from Tarnol, eight from I-11, eight from F-5, seven from I-14, eight from G-5, six from G-15, seven from G-14, six from Bari Imam, five from E-7, five from E-16, four from Sihala, four from Pindbegwa, four from G-12, three each from Kuri, Koral, H-8, H-11, and Chirrah.

According to official data, on May 20, total number of cases reported were 1138, on May 19, 1034, on May 18, 997, on May 17, 947, on May 16, 921, , May 16, 921, May15, 866, on May 14 822, May 13, 759, on May 12, 716, May 11, 679, May 10,641, May 9, 609, May 8, 558, May 7,521, May 6, 485, May 5, 464, May 4, 415, May 3, 393, on May 2, 365 and May 1, 343.

Meanwhile, a visit to various markets showed that violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) continued unchecked despite rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the city.

The implementation of the SOPs issued by the district administration was not witnessed in the markets due to which the number of Covid-19 cases may further increase after Eid.
