Adviser to Prime Minister of Pakistan for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has said that the current global situation emerging from the coronavirus pandemic is a ‘golden opportunity’ to implement the ‘Make in Pakistan Policy.’

“The coronavirus has changed the world as we knew it; business processes will be completely different. Such difficult times always bring out new opportunities, new products, new ways of thinking. This is a golden opportunity for Pakistan to pursue the ‘Make in Pakistan Policy,” said Dawood in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

The advisor informed about the grim economic reality if businesses closure and loss of employment. “Under the circumstances, the need of the hour is a policy whereby we do not import, but make products in Pakistan,” he said.

The advisor informed that the Ministry of Commerce is aggressively pursuing changes in the tariff structure for the upcoming budget, which will allow the government to facilitate local production “thereby moving towards local manufacturing, pursuing our ‘Make in Pakistan Policy’”
