Pakistan implements ‘smart lockdown’ from today

• The federal minister said that Rs50 billion package and the scheme is also being introduced for 3 to 3.5 million small businesses.

The federal government has decided to implement a nationwide smart lockdown from today (Monday) in view of the Coronavirus situation.

Talking to local media, Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar said that the approval of the National Coordination Committee has come after which there will be a smart lockdown across the country from today onwards.

The federal minister said that Rs50 billion package and the scheme is also being introduced for 3 to 3.5 million small businesses.

Referring to the NAB Ordinance Amendment Bill, Umar said that there was some consultation with the opposition, the government we will bring a new NAB ordinance through consultation.

Meanwhile, the Government of Sindh has issued a notification of conditional permission allowing traders to conduct their businesses online in the province.

According to the notification, traders will be allowed to do online business from Monday to Thursday, from 9 am to 3 pm and all business persons and staff will have to follow the SOPs provided by the Sindh government.
