Karachi Kings knock Islamabad United out of HBL PSL2020

Karachi Kings knock Islamabad United out of the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five.

Umaid Asif finished the game for the hosts with a boundary in 19.2 over. With this victory Karachi join Multan Sultans in semifinal on March 17 in Lahore.

Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi will fight for reaming two semifinal spots in the tournament.

Chasing 137, the Kings went off to a flying start courtesy of Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam. The duo posted 60 runs in five ovres.

At this stage, Akif Javed provided a much needed breakthrough to the United in shape of Sharjeel’s wicket, who departed after scoring bristling 37 of 14 deliveries. Babar Azam was the next batsman to walk back to the dugout. He was bowled by Muhammad Musa. He scored 19.

With 77 runs remaining in 14 overs, Islamabad United made a strong comeback in the game reducing Kings to 105/5 in 15.4 overs.

With 30 runs remaining in last three overs, Chadwick Walton (11) and Umaid Asif (13) seek the Kings over the line with four wickets in hand.

Shadab Khan claimed two wickets while Akif Javed, Rumman Raees, Zafar Gohar and Muhammad Musa shared a wicket each for the losing side.

Earlier, the Kings restricted Islamabad United to 135 in match 28 of the tournament.

After losing the toss at the National Stadium in a must win game for them, United went off to a decent start. At the score of 35, Karachi Kings have the first success in the shape of Rizwan Hussain’s wicket.

He scored 17 with the help of two boundaries.

Following his departure, United started losing wickets on regular intervals.

Hussain Talat chipped in 37 while Phil Salt scored 25 to guide the team to 136 on lose of six wickets.

Iftikhar Ahmed, Arshad Iqbal, Chirs Jordan, Imad Wasim and Umaid Asif claimed a wicket each for the Kings.
