Netflix's new show ‘The Witcher’ starring Henry Cavill has been in very high demand despite average reviews. Releasing just a week ago, the eight-episode series is an adaptation from Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski.

The show scores a mediocre 56% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it garners a 93% audience score from viewers.

According to Parrot Analytics [a firm that measures demand for global TV content], ‘The Witcher’ was the third-most in-demand streaming show for the week of December 18 to December 24, landing behind only ‘The Mandalorian’ on Disney+ and Netflix’s ever-popular ‘Stranger Things’, Business Insider reported.

Netflix has already renewed ‘The Witcher’ for a second season in November ahead of the show's premiere.

The show has Cavill as the mutant warrior Geralt of Rivia. Throughout the show, he meets minstrels, mages, and majesties, all during his quest to slay monsters and claim his ‘child of surprise’.
