Here’s how twitter reacted to Sarfaraz’s removal from captaincy

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) announcement on Friday of removing Sarfaraz Ahmed from captaincy in Test and T20Is format hit the cricketing fans of Pakistan like a bomb.

The removal of Sarfaraz was on cards owing to the wicket-keeper batsman's lagging form, which has been a major concern for the team for a year or so. However, what irked many cricket fans was Sarfaraz's removal from T20I captaincy, a format in which Pakistan has dominated for quite some time under his leadership.

It’s the most Shocking & Stupid decision i have ever seen considering his successful stats.

While others blamed Sarfaraz's own lack of form and dwindling captaincy skills for his removal as Pakistan cricket team's leader in both formats of the game.

Sarfaraz has been removed as Pakistan captain from Test cricket and T-20Is. Saw it coming. He wasn't contributing in both of these formats with bat and also his captaincy was under scrutiny. Azhar is back to lead Pak in Test and Babar will captain in T-20Is. #Pakistan #Sarfaraz

I dont wanna take anything away from #sarfaraz but he never really gave me vibes of a typical captain. It never seemed like he is lifting the confidence of those around him. His dull body language was hardly helpful. And most of all he was terribly lacking in charisma.

#Sarfaraz replacement should be Abid Ali in all formats. Rizwan is a bad option because he also struggle to play with high strike rate. Now a modern cricket requirement is to have a proper technique and have the capacity to play with high strike rate. Abid Ali has both qualities

Azhar Ali has been appointed national cricket team captain for Pakistan’s World Test Championship matches in the 2019-20 season, while Babar Azam has been named captain of the No.1 ranked T20I side until next year’s ICC T20 World Cup Australia 2020, which is now exactly one year away.

Whereas, the decision on vice-captaincy will be made closer to the series, whilst captaincy for the ODIs will be finalised in due course as the national team’s next assignment is scheduled from 4-9 July 2020 against the Netherlands in Amstelveen.
