KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port where four ships carrying containers, diesel oil and palm oil were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday, Port Qasim sources said Friday.
Two more ships carrying chemicals and fertiliser also arrived at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 31% on Thursday where a total of four ships namely C.V Nicoline Maersk, C.V MSC Sena, M.T AI-Soor-II and M.T Bunga Angelica are currently occupying berths to load/ offload containers, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 96,316 tonnes comprising 86,132 tonnes imports and 10,184 tonnes exports, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,860 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during the last 24 hours.
C.V Nicoline Maersk sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships C.V MSC Sena and M.T AI-Soor-II were expected to sail same day afternoon.
Three ships C.V CMA CGM Eiffel, M.V Unm-ad-daikh and M.T Harsandi carrying containers, fertiliser and chemicals were expected to take berths at QICT, FAP and EVTL respectively on Friday, while another containers ship C.V Reunion was due to arrive of Port Qasim the same day and oil tanker 'Qubaa' is due to arrive on Saturday, the Port sources further said.
