‘Mystery’ a must in this World Cup says Hafeez

With the ICC World Cup 2019 just around the corner, Pakistan senior cricketer Mohammad Hafeez believes that a ‘mystery’ bowler would be a must for a side to dismantle the opposition.

“Your spinners will play a major role and at the same time you must have some mystery in you that can cause confusion in the other team,” said Hafeez, quoted PCB.

Hafeez praised the fan support the team received in England, saying that it feels like playing at home. “Every time we come here, the first thing we get is the massive support. We always feel when coming here like we’re playing at home,” he said.

Talking about the recently concluded ODI series that the visitors lost 4-0, Hafeez stressed on the bowling line to have a wicket-taker in their ranks to stop the flow of runs.

“The series we played here last time before the World Cup, I’ve never seen the pitches like that before. There’s something to adjust, and I think everyone is ready for that,” he added.

“At the moment, it’s really suitable for the batsmen and we’ll see some big scores from all the teams… I believe that cricket has evolved massively, but at the same time you still need that wicket-taking ability in your bowling. If you don’t have that, you can’t stop any team,” he added.

The Men in Green would begin their World Cup campaign with the first match against the West Indies on 31st May.
