Meesha Shafi hits back at Ali Zafar, says she won’t cry over facing severe backlash

After Ali Zafar went on national television to speak about the ongoing legal battle between him and singer Meesha Shafi, the songstress followed suit and spoke on live TV show about the sexual harassment allegations that she has leveled against her fellow singer.

In a live interview on a news channel, which is her first television appearance since the harassment and defamation cases were filed in court, Meesha said she had wished to resolve the matter privately but it didn’t happen that’s why she came out in public to deal with the issue.

“I was trying my best not to let this come out. I had given them the message that I do not want a controversy of any kind, and that I do not want this to come out in public. I have tried my level to sort the issue privately behind closed doors. But I didn’t get any breakthrough,” she said.

Shafi reiterated that it wasn’t just him who has been through a rough year but she faced severe backlash too. "When I came out with my story, I knew the kind of backlash I was going to face. There was slander, there was character assassination. I was under a lot of pressure but you won’t see me crying about it," she said.

Responding to performing on stage together with Ali, Meesha said it was the concert organisers' idea and that she only agreed to it on their insistence. Meesha insisted that she has a number of witnesses with her who are willing to record their statement in the court.

Meesha further said that she is ready to face the court anytime they summon her. “I will appear before the court whenever it summons me,” she said.
