Soon after the Senate rejected the no-confidence motion against Sadiq Sanjrani on Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated him, saying the House reposed confidence on him by rejecting the opposition's conspiracy for his removal. During a telephonic conversation, Khan said, "Well done Sanjrani, you've proved that Senate trusts you."
On the occasion, the Senate chairman said, "This only happened because of the blessings of Almighty Allah." He also thanked the government for its support in wake of no-confidence motion against him. Talking to journalists, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan congratulated Sadiq Sanjrani on retaining his seat. She said that Sanjrani won and faced the allegations against him.
"The Senate is an institution which has been made to unite the four provinces. The provinces are the younger brothers and the Senate is the elder one and they work together," she added.
These senators went against their own parties, she said, adding the senators had taken a step away from the corrupt practices of their respective parties. "I respect and salute to all the senators who stood against their party's anti-government people," said Awan. "These are anti-Pakistan people and they are far from the Quaid's vision and ideology."
She went on to praise the Prime Minister and claimed that the whole nation now knows that his (Prime Minister) Pakistan is the Naya Pakistan. "The Senate is a reflection of people's power. This power was used for personal benefit by the opposition," she said.
Talking to media persons, Sherry Rehman, who is PPP's parliamentary leader in the Senate, said the opposition might bring yet another no-confidence motion against chairman Senate saying, "We all know how they [government] managed to thwart our motion." "We'll sit together and decide what to do, as we've a thumping majority in the Upper House," said a visibly perturbed Sherry.
