The Karachi Port handled 149,106 tonnes of cargo comprising 61,752 tonnes of import cargo and 87,354 tonnes of export cargo including 8,817 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 61,752 tonnes comprised of 51,609 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,404 tonnes of rock phosphate; 470 tonnes of DAP and 6,269 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 87,354 tonnes comprised of 52,265 tonnes of containerised cargo; 692 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,307 tonnes of talcum powder; 23,400 tonnes of clinkers and 5,690 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,817 containers comprising of 3,255 containers import and 5,562 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,221 of 20's and 1,017 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,463 of 20's and 715 of 40's loaded containers while 255 of 20's and 1,207 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely CMA CGM Medea, SM Vancouver, Sea Phantom and BW Tiger carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. MOL Grandeur, APL Chongqing, Xin Mei Zhou, MT Lahore, Gannets, Bulj Chile, Gladiator and Beijing Venture carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 162,716 tonnes comprising 135,016 tonnes of import cargo and 27,700 tonnes of export cargo including 3,280 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 135,016 tonnes includes 26,300 tonnes of LNG; 12,196 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,200 tonnes of palm oil; 4,265 tonnes of palm kernel; 24,765 tonnes of coal; 8,550 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 15,416 tonnes of steel coil, 1,704 tonnes of LPG and 37,620 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,700 tonnes includes 27,700 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,280 containers comprising of 1,980 containers import and 1,300 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were three ships namely Bulk Titan, Al-Nouman and Caspian Gas carrying coal, LPG and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely CMA CGM Al-Maviva carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eleven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, canola seeds, steel coil, palm kernel, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen vessels viz. CMA CGM Medea, Hou Yo Shi Express-II, Thor Madoc, Indigo Flora, Dfg Suez North Star Sea, Heroic Striker, Alani, BW Panther, Pike, Dory, Melati-6, Able Sailor, NCC Haiel and NCC Sama respectively carrying containers, soyabean, coal, palm kernel, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CMA CGM Medea, Dfg Suez North Star Sea and Navig-8 Sky carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday.
There was one ship namely CMA CGM Medea carrying containers due to arrive on Friday, while two more ships namely MS Tiger and Maersk Jalan carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
