Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Friday said that he believed the trial against former President General Pervez Musharraf (retd) will reach its logical end, as it is a high treason case and no law can stop it. Talking to reporters here inside the Accountability Court hearing corruption cases against him and his family members, Sharif said that the trial against Musharraf would conclude one day as it is an open-and-shut case. There is no law to take back this case as it is a high treason case, he said.
He said that Musharraf cannot avoid the trial against him so easily. "I have appeared before the court for 70 times while a dictator is absconding," he deplored. "If you remember whenever Musharraf appeared in the Parliament he used to show his fist. Where is that fist now?" he said.
To a question about Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan relating to proceedings of the National Assembly, he said that Khan used abusive language and cursed the Parliament during public gatherings despite the fact he is taking full advantage of the Parliament.
Khan will have to present explanation for using foul language against the Parliament, he said. About the delay in finalizing name for the caretaker prime minister, Sharif said that the matter will be taken up by the Parliament if the government and the opposition fail to reach consensus.
The former prime minister said that a National Security Council (NSC) meeting should be called regarding the publication of a book of former ISI chief Lieutenant-General Asad Durrani (retd).
He said if his party comes to power again, his government would form a national commission on national tragedies. Sharif said that two or three parallel governments cannot be run in the country at the same time.
